What is Azzalure®?
Azzalure® contains Botulinum Toxin. Botulinum toxin is a naturally produced protein used to temporarily relax muscles and it is administered by means of injections. Azzalure® diminishes muscle action. As a result, wrinkles disappear. Azzalure® has been used successfully since 1980 to treat facial wrinkles as crow’s feet, frowns and lines in the forehead.
How does it work?
Azzalure® behaves differently during injection than the previously used anti wrinkle products. Previously used products had a bigger molecular structure and, as a result, did not diffuse in the tissue as far as Azzalure®. This meant that a patient sometimes required more injection points than with Azzalure®. Azzalure® injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes.
Anti-wrinkle injections target specific muscles beneath the skin’s surface with the aim of temporarily “freezing” the area to stop them from being able to create the furrows and lines on your face. Primarily, this treatment works well for a wide range of clients and its main aim is to reduce the look of deep wrinkles and lines.
Please note- Anyone who has pre-existing medical conditions, i.e. damaged nerves, muscular conditions, etc. should inform us during their initial consultation to prevent any complications possibly arising.
The practitioner will carefully map the area and decide where to apply the treatment. The actual procedure is as simple as a few pin pricks in certain areas. Generally it will involve 5 to 10 injection points.

Your face swells or skin goes red or you get an itchy lumpy rash. This may mean you are having an allergic reaction to Azzalure®. When you experience these symptoms you should contact your doctor immediately and report you have been injected with Azzalure®.
It takes 5 to 7 days before the effects of Azzalure® and Botox® start to work, and sometimes up to 2 weeks to see the full effects of treatment.
Typically, the effects of Botox last for up to three to four months. Therefore, the recommended treatment is once every three to four months. Nonetheless, if your facial muscles begin to train themselves to contract less, the period of time for each treatment may be extended longer than three or four months.
